The Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley Chapter offers several educational and support programs in the region.
"The Basics: Memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease” will be on Monday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sloatsburg Library, 1 Liberty Rock Road, Sloatsburg. RSVP to (845)-753-2001.
“Healthy living for your brain and body: Tips from the latest research,” is Monday, Nov. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Valley Cottage Library, 110 Route 303, Valley Cottage.
Learn about research in diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and use hands-on tools to form a plan for healthy aging.
Part two of “Living with Alzheimer’s for middle-stage caregivers” will be Monday, Nov. 14, from noon to 2 p.m., at Meals on Wheels, 121 W. Nyack Road, Nanuet.
Participants will learn strategies for providing safe, effective and comfortable care during the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.

A “Memory Café” for people with early-stage dementia and their family caregivers to socialize and enjoy some food and music will be offered Wednesdays, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21 from noon to 2 p.m. in a private dining room at City Line Family Restaurant, 254 S. Main St., New City.

Part two of “Living with Alzheimer’s for late-stage caregivers” is Monday, Nov. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at Meals on Wheels, 121 W. Nyack Road, Nanuet.
The program offers information about resources, care monitoring and providing meaningful connection for people with late-stage Alzheimer’s and their families.

“Equine sessions” for people with dementia and their family caregivers will be available Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to noon at Ramapo Equestrian Center, 1152 Haverstraw Road (Route 202), Suffern.
There is a $10 fee per couple. The sessions include grooming, feeding, leading and learning about horses. Call (800)-272-3900 with questions or to RSVP.
