Hundreds of individuals, community groups and families are expected to attend to volunteer and enjoy special events throughout the day.

Super Sunday is part of Rockland Federation’s annual campaign to raise money for programs that aid those in need and help sustain a vibrant Jewish community in Rockland, Israel and in 60-plus countries worldwide.

Volunteers are trained to make phone calls to ask for donations, and there are four phone shifts with the first beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the last shift ending at 3 p.m. Teens are encouraged to volunteer to earn community service hours.

Refreshments / lunch will be provided.

The Jewish Federation’s PJ Library, a program that delivers free Jewish books and music to local children, will hold a Superhero Super Sunday event at 11:30 a.m. for kids ages 2-plus (with chaperone).

Children are invited to come in costume and give back to “real” superheroes by creating cards for Kosher Troops – Jewish U.S. servicemen and women who are stationed overseas.

Kids will also take photos with U.S. and Israeli soldiers in uniform and celebrate Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish new year of the trees by making tree-themed crafts.

Pizza and snacks will be served to all participating children, and the event is free with advanced registration at www.jewishrockland.org/supersunday and $3 at the door.

According to Gary Siepser, chief executive officer of the Jewish Federation of Rockland County, "Super Sunday is so important to our community because it's an opportunity to connect and share the lifesaving work of the Jewish Federation. It’s an impactful way to bring the community together to do good and to support our critical work.”

The public is invited to learn more about Super Sunday and to sign up to volunteer at www.jewishrockland.org/supersunday.
