Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer an hour long training session on two dates to prepare local volunteers and the Department of Public Works staff for planting trees along the streets of Nyack.

The Nyack Tree Project is a partnership of the Village of Nyack, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Rockland B.O.C.E.S, the Nyack Parks Conservancy and local volunteers to expand the community forest.

In the first stage this spring, students at BOCES in West Nyack will set up a small nursery to grow trees for planting in future years, and 12 new street trees will find homes where the nearby residents can help them to get established. Department of Public Works staff and volunteers will plant the street trees.

The Nyack Tree Committee and other volunteers will match tree selections with appropriate sites using the Village’s complete street tree inventory and List of Recommended Trees, which can be accessed on the Village's website by clicking here.
