NYACK, N.Y. -- Happy Birthday to Nyack's Rosie O'Donnell.

Roseann "Rosie" O'Donnell, who lives in South Nyack, turns 55, on Tuesday.

O'Donnell was born March 21, 1962, in Commack, N.Y.

A comedian, actress, author, and television personality, O'Donnell has also been a magazine editor, and works as a celebrity blogger, lesbian rights activist and television producer.

O'Donnell's first big break was on the talent show "Star Search" in 1984. From 1996 to 2002 she hosted "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which won multiple Emmy Awards, while also writing her first memoir, "Find Me," and gaining a reputation for her host of philanthropic efforts.
