BLAUVELT, N.Y. -- The Historical Society of Rockland County will host a Historical Marker Dedication ceremony for 914 Recording Studios on Thursday, Aug. 18, at Blauvelt Coach Diner.

A historic plaque will be unveiled in honor of the legendary Blauvelt-based studio where some of the most iconic rock anthems of the 1970s were recorded, including Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” and Janis Ian’s “At Seventeen.”

The studio, which was founded by sound engineer Brooks Arthur in 1971, shut its doors in the early 1980s, and Blauvelt Auto Spa currently occupies the location.

Joe Delia -- keyboardist/composer who has played with Springsteen, Dusty Springfield, David Johansen and many others -- will lead a band performing a tribute to 914 Studios. He’ll be joined by Rockland-born guitarist, songwriter and impresario Joe D’Urso and other special guests.

Admission is free but RSVPs are requested. Those planning to attend should RSVP to Michael Magnone at mboilman@aol.com by Monday, Aug. 1.

The ceremony will start at 6 p.m., rain or shine.

Blauvelt Coach Diner is at 587 Route 303, Blauvelt.
