The ceremony was held on Sunday, Aug. 28, at Clarkstown Town Hall and recognized 57 local World War II veterans for their service.

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and Councilwoman Adrienne Carey joined County Executive Ed Day, Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, and Director of Veterans Affairs Jerry Donnellan at the ceremony.

"It was a privilege to honor the service, courage and most of all sacrifice of 57 World War II veterans here at Clarkstown Town Hall," Hoehmann said.

"The dedication of these brave men and women to our country is commendable and will never be forgotten. It was an honor to participate in this ceremony."
