Several hundred veterans are expected to attend today's event which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine. A.F. Veteran Park is located at at 11 Olympic Lane and Heatherdell Road
"If you are a veteran, you’re invited to join a few hundred local heroes at our annual veterans barbeque celebration," said Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner. "Besides getting a chance to interact with fellow veterans and public officials."
The barbecue is free to the public. The event's corporate sponsors include Atria Woodlands, Marriott and ShopRite.
Feiner said that If your son or daughter is interested in a pursuing a career in the military or an appointment to West Point or another military academy this can be a great opportunity to chat with veterans and those who have some knowledge about the military.
In a related town development, Feiner noted that the soon-to-be-completed veterans memorial park on East Hartsdale Avenue -- across from the train station in Hartsdale -- "is starting to look beautiful."
Two new trees will be planted within the next few weeks, Feiner said, adding: "We’re planning to remove a pole and will be doing some landscaping."
The park will be dedicated at 2 p.m. on Veterans Day.
