Business Owners, Officials Split On Future South Nyack Thruway Interchange

NYACK, N.Y. -- Changes at the Thruway's Exit 10 South Nyack interchange that would direct traffic to Route 9W instead of through neighborhoods in South Nyack could harm businesses, some owners worry, reported lohud.com.

Business owners worry that changes to the southbound entrance to the Thruway in South Nyack will deter motorists from using their businesses, according to a lohud.com report.

"We live off traffic," a gas station owner told lohud.com.

Some officials and locals approve of the changes, said lohud.com.

Debates have long gone on over the exit changes that would be connected to the end of a bike/walk path on the new bridge, according to lohud.com.

This state endorsed Alternative F, which involves closing the ramp onto the Thruway southbound and relocating access to its lanes in both directions by using Route 9W, said the lohud.com report.

Added traffic lights and improvements to roadways at the location are planned, according to lohud.com.

It will still be possible for motorists who like taking South Broadway to get onto the Thruway using 9W after the changes, but it would take more time, said the lohud.com report.
