NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Congers resident and World War II veteran Frank Morea was lauded on his 103rd birthday Tuesday as a “true American hero” by state Sen. David Carlucci. Carlucci threw a party for Morea at his district offices in New City.
Morea, an active member of the senator’s Veterans Advisory Committee, served in the Army from 1942-45 and fought in the Pacific theater.
Morea was inducted into the state’s Veterans Hall of Fame in 2015.
"A true American hero, I have had the opportunity to know Frank Morea for a few years now and I am so grateful he is a member of our community and our Veterans Advisory Committee,” said Carlucci, D-Rockland/Westchester.
Acknowledging Morea’s 103rd birthday, the senator went on to express his wishes for “many more years of good health.”
Morea, in turn, thanked Carlucci both for throwing him a party and “for his commitment to helping veterans throughout our communities.”
