ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- DeCicco Family Markets donated Thanksgiving meals to Virgin Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Yonkers.

Employees at DeCicco’s Family Market in New City boxed meals with Thanksgiving food on Tuesday. Donations were made to 100 families identified by the church who needed assistance to have a special holiday with loved ones.

Meals and frozen turkeys were picked up on Wednesday at DeCicco Family Markets and transported to the church in Yonkers.

Families received a 12-15 pound turkey, a spiral ham, five pounds of sweet potatoes, a large box of instant mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, chicken stock, mini marshmallows, cranberry sauce, peas, apple juice or cider, egg nog, a pumpkin bread mix, 4-5 bags of stuffing mix, a large aluminum tray for cooking, pumpkin pie and apple pie.

The church paid at or below-cost to DeCicco’s, which also donated additional merchandise and labor.

This marks the second year DeCicco Family Markets has worked with Dr. Jamil Rizqalla and the other parishioners and volunteers from the church to help needy families.
