NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Rockland County's Office for the Aging has a new director: Tina Cardoza-Izquierdo is replacing June Molof, who retired after 41 years.

Cardoza-Izquierdo has more than 25 years of experience in health care administration, most recently at Nyack Hospital, Rockland County Executive Ed Day said, announcing the appointment.

She lives in New City with her husband and four children.

"We are confident that Tina has the skills, background and compassion needed to take the helm of this very important department that is charged with assisting our seniors as they age," Day said. "She will direct services and programs that are crucial to helping our older residents age with dignity and in comfort."

Cardoza-Izquierdo is also fluent in Spanish, which will help the county's efforts to reach out to Rockland's growing Latino community, Day said.

"I am thrilled to join this dynamic agency which serves more than 60,000 people in Rockland County over the age of 60. I look forward to working with this team of exceptionally caring professionals and growing the current roster of programs and services that assists our valued senior citizens," said Cardoza-Izquierdo.

The OFA provides a variety of programs, either through its own efforts or through sub-contractors, that are designed to help older people maintain maximum independence and to provide employment and volunteer activities. One goal is a comprehensive and coordinated county-wide system of services.

The OFA is a planning, coordination and grant-making agency, funded by Rockland County, the New York State Office for the Aging and the Older Americans Act. The OFA office is located at 50 Sanatorium Rd., in Pomona.

Previously, Cardoza-Izquierdo was director of Medical Staff Affairs & Physician Services at Nyack Hospital for over eight years. She was also assistant director of Administrator on Duty programs at North Central Bronx Hospital and coordinating manager of Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center.
