Rockland Resident, Former Nypd Officer Pursues Medical Career

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rockland County resident Christian Saffran, 46, is retired from the New York Police Department and pursuing two doctorates, in neuroscience and medicine, according to The New York Times.

Saffran is pursuing the degrees at Weill Cornell Medical College. He will complete them when he is in his mid-50s, The New York Times reported.

Saffran spent five of his police department years as an undercover detective and retired in 2002, according to The New York Times.

He went to Rockland Community College, then Columbia University where he majored in biophysics, graduating in 2014. After graduating, Saffran worked in a neurosurgeon's lab at Weill Cornell, according to the newspaper.
