Avoid The Area: Rockland Roadway Stays Closed After Overpass Strike

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - The Hungry Hollow Overpass will remain closed “for the foreseeable future,” after it was struck by a tractor-trailer on the New York State Thruway in Chestnut Ridge.

The Ramapo Police Department issued an alert to local motorists advising that Hungry Hollow Road will be closed from Old Nyack Turnpike to Lon Leif Lane for “an undetermined, long, period of time.”

Additionally, the overpass will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic as a precaution as crews evaluate the damage done to the overpass from the strike.

Police warn that anyone traveling through the area should seek alternate routes for the foreseeable future while repairs are being done.
