WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A driver who was stranded on the Sprain Brook Parkway amid a heavy Thursday snowstorm got help from an unexpected person: Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The governor's office announced that he stopped on a stretch of the parkway near Hawthorne to assist the driver.

A representative from Cuomo's office told Daily Voice that the driver is Noach Fisher, who is from the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

Cuomo lives in the nearby town of New Castle, which is located in Northern Westchester County.

The governor also made several briefings on Thursday regarding the snowstorm.

The Winter Storm Warning issued for the quick-moving Nor'easter that blew through the area Thursday expired at 6 p.m., but blowing snow and icy conditions are making travel challenging throughout the area and could lead to delayed school openings Friday.
