CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – Tommy McGuire, a former Clarkstown South quarterback, has begun his recovery two weeks after a swimming accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, according to lohud.com.
McGuire suffered an injury to his C-3 and C-4 vertebrae after diving into a friend's pool June 11 and hitting his head, lohud.com.
After spending two weeks in Westchester Medical Center's intensive care unit, he began rehabbing Friday at Helen Hayes Hospital, reported lohud.com.
Clarkstown South football coach Michael Scarpelli is organizing fundraisers to help McGuire's family with medical expenses, lohud.com noted.
