Gran Fondo Bicycle Race Expected To Cause Clarkstown Traffic Delays

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- The Clarkstown Police Department has issued a major traffic alert for Sunday, May 15, due to the Campagnolo Gran Fondo race.

More than 6,000 riders are expected to participate in the annual bicycle race. 

The northbound leg along Route 9W through Upper Nyack, Valley Cottage and Congers is expected to have minimal impact on traffic. 

The southbound leg through New City and West Nyack is expected to cause major traffic delays beginning at around 9:30 a.m. 

Police and event volunteers will provide traffic control at all major intersections on the routes.

Clarkstown police encourage residents to use alternative routes and avoid the following intersections from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • North LIttle Tor Road and Saw Mill Road, New City
  • South Mountain Road from North Little Tor Road to Ridge Road, New City.
  • Route 304 and Ridge Road, New City
  • Ridge Road. and Congers Road. New City
  • Strawtown Road, and Brewery Road in New City
  • Strawtown Road. and Germonds Road, West Nyack
  • Strawtown Road. and West Nyack Road, West Nyack
