WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- JCC Rockland in West Nyack has many activities and events coming up, as well as some new programs.
One event is the 13th annual International Jewish Film Festival. According to Julie Sadowski, Director of Special Events, "The festival will feature 15 films including recent Golden Globe winner Son of Saul."
The festival takes place from March 27–April 20. It is attended each year by over 3,000 movie-goers and often sells out, Sadowski said.
“Each year, we select the best films in this genre that appeal to a wide audience” Sadowski said. “The screenings cover everything from documentaries, to comedy and dramadies."
The film festival is just one of many upcoming events and new programs at JCC Rockland, which celebrates over 30 years of providing enrichment and continuity of Jewish life to the Rockland community, Sadowski said.
"The center strives to strengthen individual awareness and connection to the Jewish community, the state of Israel, and the community at large through recreational, physical, educational, social and cultural programs. JCC Rockland welcomes people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds," she said.
One of the JCC’s most recent programs is a full care early childhood center for children 6 weeks through pre-K. Also, JCC Rockland also offers seven various summer camp programs for children 18 months through 10th grade.
For the young at heart, JCC Rockland has a senior center and active adult community. "On any given day, you can find a fun game of mahjong or a lively discussion of current events in one of the building’s many social rooms. The center is also home to our premier Fitness and Wellness center, featuring more than 90 group exercise classes--including a baby yoga class, as well as a private Pilates studio and more," Sadowski said.
