ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Visitors to the New County Complex won't have to spend time looking for a parking spot with the addition of 70 new parking spaces.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day said the 70 new parking spaces were completed over the weekend by the Rockland County Highway Department: "There are plenty of parking spaces to meet the needs of both Rockland County employees and visitors to the county office complex."

The additional spaces were created by reconfiguring the parking lot and adding a row of spaces in the back of the lot. The county hopes to add even more county parking spaces at the Chase building at 11 New Hempstead Road.

The additional parking spaces will make up for spaces that will be lost when the Sain Building at 18 New Hempstead Road is sold, Day said.

Many municipalities including Westchester and Bergen counties charge for parking at county offices.

"Rockland County hopes to be able to continue to offer free parking, depending on fiscal conditions related to the sale of the Sain Building, which would provide $4.51 million in revenue, put the property back on the tax roll and create much-needed housing for seniors," Day added.
