Ira Bernstein, a 41-year-old podiatrist, and his girlfriend, Kelly Myzner Gribeluk, 36, of Airmont, were arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy and solicitation in connection with the scheme to kill Susan Bernstein and with trying to have insurance investigators beaten up, police said earlier this week.

The new details were revealed during a court hearing Thursday where prosecutors wanted Bernstein’s bail set at $1 million, but the judge kept it at $600,000, lohud.com reported.

Bernstein, who had asked for $25,000 cash bail, remained behind bars Thursday as did Gribeluk, whose bail was also $600,000, the lohud.com story said.

Gribeluk was in the news back in 2014 when she engaged in a nasty custody battle for her children.

According to The Rockland County Times, the then-Monsey resident had accused her former husband, Guillermo Gribeluk, of molesting their children.

Gribeluk, then a member of the Satmar Hasidic Jewish community, had divorced her spouse in 2011, alleging that he was angry and physically abusive and had inappropriately touched their children, The Rockland County Times reported.

Despite the children’s stated desire to stay with their mother, a state court ruled in favor of Gribeluk’s ex-husband, The Rockland County Times story said.

A grand jury is set to get the case today, the lohud.com story said.

Police told lohud.com that they have been receiving numerous tips about Bernstein's business practices and private life which could lead to more charges.
