Rockland Residents Turn In Boxes Of Drugs During Take-Back Event

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rockland residents turned in eight large boxes of drugs, including controlled substances, during the recent Drug Take-Back event, officials report.

The April 30 event was organized by Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Rockland County Department of Mental Health Commissioner Michael Leitzes and involved the efforts of many people, including Clarkstown police Chief Michael Sullivan and Haverstraw Police Chief Charles Miller. 

Also involved in the event were CVS, Marion Breland, director of Youth and Family Services for the village of Haverstraw, Ruth Bowles, executive director of the Rockland Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Joanne Goodman, executive director of Community Awareness Network for a Drug-free Life and Environment (CANDLE) and Anne Calajoe of the Rockland Department of Mental Health. 

The next Drug Take Back Day will be held in the fall with a date to be determined.
