CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- A Rockland woman stuck in her wheelchair on a motorized lift on a county bus for more than two hours, is calling on the county to make public transportation more accessible for disabled residents, according to News 12.
Ella Hill told News 12 her wheelchair was stuck Tuesday after the motorized lift on the Transport of Rockland bus stopped operating, said News 12.
Rockland County officials said the issue was a computer malfunction that locked the controls. Crews had to use a flatbed truck to remove Hill from the lift, which had been inspected the same day, added News 12.
Rockland officials apologized through a statement, said News 12.
