Three Officers Added To Rockland County Law Enforcement Memorial

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  Three officers names will be added to the Rockland County Law Enforcement Memorial Wall during a special ceremony on Sunday, May 21.

Those being included this year all died from Sept. 11-related illnesses:

  • Police Officer James A. Betso 
  • Sgt. Michael J. Galvin 
  • Deputy Chief Steven J. Bonano

During the ceremony, Spring Valley Chief Paul Modica will open the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance and Undersheriff Robert Van Cura will serve as the Master of Ceremony

Deacon John Maloney will deliver the invocation and Rabbi Moses Tendler will deliver the benediction, while the Rev David Lothrop will conduct the memorial prayer. 

Assistant Chief John Donohue, New York City Police Department, will be the Keynote Speaker while the Law Enforcement Memorial Message will be delivered by Sheriff Louis Falco III.

The Roll of Honor will be read by Det. Chris Kiernan, president, Rockland County PBA and Mark Murphy, president, Rockland County Shields.

Immediately following the ceremony, a luncheon will be provided at the William E. DeBevoise, American Legion Post located on American Legion Way in New City.
