NANUET, N.Y. -- Harold James Bromm, a longtime resident of Nanuet, died on Saturday, March 26. He was 85.
Born in Nyack, Bromm graduated from Pearl River high school and SUNY Oswego. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He was a technology teacher at Tappan Zee High School for 36 years. During his career he was named New York State Technology Teacher of the Year. Bromm was very active in his community, serving as a Boy Scout leader, a football coach and a church volunteer. He was also captain, president and life member of the Nanuet Ambulance Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; children Susan, Denise Markiewicz, Michael Bromm, Gary Bromm and Dara Genesi; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Marie Bator.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 28, at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Rd., in West Nyack. A mass will be held 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church, 36 West Nyack Rd., in Nanuet, NY. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
