NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Horace J. Ruiz -- a New City resident, formerly of Pearl River -- died on Monday, March 7. He was 94.
Born in New York City, Ruiz attended Cornell University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for NBC in New York City as a broadcast engineer, where he received five Emmy awards as a technical director.
He is survived by his children, Linda Cury of Montvale, New Jersey, Robert and wife Theresa of Pearl River, and Michael and wife Christine of Stony Point; grandchildren William Cury and wife Kerri, Christopher Cury and wife Kristen, and Michael Ruiz; and great-grandchildren Addison, Lyla and Dylan Cury.
Ruiz was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Ruiz, and his parents, Sergio and Margaret Ruiz.
Visiting hours will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, and Thursday, March 10, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Ave., in Pearl River. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, in Nanuet.
