Lauren Bunyan-Gould, Beloved Cheerleading Coach In Rockland, 32

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Lauren Bunyan-Gould, a beloved cheerleading coach in North Rockland, lost her battle with cystic fibrosis on Sunday. She was 32.

The owner of Cheer Mania in Stony Point, she died one day before her team's win at nationals in Orlando.

She was varsity cheerleading coach at North Rockland High School, where was named Section 1 coach of the year. In addition to winning a national championship, she captured numerous Section 1 and Westchester County Center grand championships.

She is survived by her beloved husband of eight years, John J. Gould Jr.; by her daughter Emily Lauren Gould; by her parents Stephen and Margaret (Oakley) Bunyan; by her siblings: John Croyle, Brian (Christine) Croyle and Michael (Jeannie) Bunyan; by her in-laws John and Maureen Gould; by her brothers-in-law Daniel Gould and William (Kelly) Gould; by her nieces and nephews: Kayleigh and Addison Croyle and Olivia and Liam Bunyan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lauren is predeceased by Dorothy and Edward Oakley, Margaret and Michael Bunyan, Peggy Delaney, and Brianna Bunyan.

A wake service was held Wednesday and is also scheduled for Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McGowan’s Funeral Home in Garnerville. Her funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Grergory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, with interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in  Haverstraw.
