NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Richard L. Mackey, a lifelong resident of New City, died on Monday, Feb. 22. He was 86.
An Army National Guard veteran, Mackey he worked for 30 years as a foreman for New Jersey Transit. He enjoyed gardening, reading and history.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty; children Richard Mackey and Regina Schluter; grandchildren Matthew, Carrie, Kyle and Kevin Schluter; and great-grand-children Brianna and Luke Mackey.
Mackey was predeceased by his parents, John and Carrie Mackey.
Visiting hours will be from 12-3 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home, 34 N. Summit St., in Pearl River. A prayer service will be during the evening visitation.
