Theresa A. Buckley, 93, Of Nanuet

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Theresa A. Buckley, 93, formerly of Pearl River, died Tuesday, Nov. 1. 

She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx to Matthew and Molly (O’Malley) Vaughan. 

She worked as a home health aide for Home Aides of Rockland in Haverstraw, before retiring in 1985. She was educated in Manhattan and in the Bronx at St. Jerome’s School and Cathedral High School. 

She lived in Nanuet for the past six years and resided in Pearl River from 1956 to 2010. 

She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Margaret’s Church, where she served as an Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Catholic Golden Age Club. Locally, she was a member of the Pearl River Seniors “B” Club. She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith and family. No holiday at her home was a success unless everyone was ready to burst. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Buckley; daughters, Patricia Reid and her husband Robert and Diane Waitman; sister, Mary Jo Huestis; seven grandchildren, Robert Reid Jr., Shannon Hurban (John), Matthew Reid (Erica), Elissa Waitman, Kaeli Waitman and Leah and Kevin Waitman; and great-grandsons, Patrick and Colin Reid and Declan and Finnian Hurban. 

She was predeceased by her husband, John; parents, Matthew and Molly Vaughan; brother, William “Buddy” Vaughan; and daughter, Maureen Anne. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret R. C. Church, 115 W. Central Ave., Pearl River. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Nanuet. Visiting is from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Franklin Ave., Pearl River. 

Friends may send memorial donations to St. Margaret’s Sanctuary Fund or Hospice of Orange and Ulster County.
