Police said that at approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, 39-year-old Orangeburg resident Jeffery Santos allegedly entered an occupied Kings Highway home where a mother, father and child were asleep.

While attempting to enter one of the bedrooms in the home, police said Santos was too noisy, and the family woke up, prompting the father to chase after him while his wife called the Orangetown Police Department.

Upon arrival at the home, police arrested Santos, and it was later determined he entered the home through an unlocked door. At the time of his arrest, Santos was also in possession of marijuana. Police said that no family members were injured during the incident.

Santos was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was remanded to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is due back in court on Nov. 6 to answer the charges.
