Driver, 78, OK After Car Plows Into New City Bank

NEW CITY, N.Y. -- A 78-year-old driver escaped injury after a sedan plowed into the front of a New City bank Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The driver was OK, police said.

The car "accelerated over the curb and into the window" of the M&T Bank on South Main Street around 2:30 p.m., Public Information Officer Peter Walker said.

No summonses were issued, although an investigation was continuing, Walker said.

A building inspector was responding to evaluate the building's structural integrity, he said
