Hillcrest Firefighters Extinguish Blaze That Engulfed Land Rover

RAMAPO. N.Y. -- The Hillcrest Fire Department extinguished a fire that  consumed a 2005 Land Rover on Monday afternoon, according to officials from the Ramapo Police Department.

Police responded to the report of the fire on New Hempstead Road in the area of the Palisades Parkway at about 2:51 p.m., police said.

The blaze apparently started in the engine compartment of the vehicle while it was in motion, according to police.

Hillcrest firefighters responded, and put out the flames, police said.

There were no injuries during the incident, and the road is now open, according to police.
