It occurred around 1:50 p.m., on Haverstraw Road (Route 202) west of Mayer Drive, said Ramapo police.

According to police, the crash occurred when a Honda CRV drove over the double yellow lines and struck a BMW-X1. The vehicle behind the BMW, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, then hit the rear of the BMW, sending it spinning off the roadway and head-on into a large tree. The Honda CRV then sideswiped a gold Ford Fusion sedan after it struck the BMW, police said.

There were several minor injuries to the drivers and passengers that included the 24-year-old female driver of the Honda from Suffern; a 64 year old man from Pomona with a 59 year old female passenger in the BMW; a 27 year old male from Thiells in the Jeep, along with a 25 year old female passenger, and a 68 year old woman from Hillburn driving the Ford Fusion.

No tickets have been issued, however, the accident is under investigation.

Tallman Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene, along with Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps., Rockland Paramedic Services, and several civilians who stopped to render help.

The road was closed for more than an hour until the vehicles were removed.
