Members of the Orangetown Police Department arrested 22-year-old Michael Harris at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday morning when he was found to be allegedly intoxicated following reports of a motor vehicle crash on Franklin Street.

Upon arrival, officers said that they found a vehicle on the wrong side of the street, which had left the roadway and struck a parking meter. Harris would later be identified as the driver.

Police said that it was determined that Harris was allegedly operating the motor vehicle “in an intoxicated condition” and he was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Following arraignment, Harris was released and is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Dec. 14 to answer the charges.
