The arrest came about when officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highland Avenue in Nyack on Thursday, around 8:16 a.m., according to police.
After investigating, officers discovered the driver, identified as Michael Campolo of the Bronx, had been operating the vehicle while his license was suspended six times for failure to pay fines, police said.
The suspect was also allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of concentrated cannabis and a quantity of marijuana, according to police.
Campolo was taken into custody and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters; he has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors, police said.
He has also been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to police.
The defendant was released on bail, police said.
He is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Tuesday, Nov. 22, according to police.
