The arrest came about when officers responded to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pascack Road and Ewing Avenue in the Hillcrest area of the town on Saturday, according to police.

Upon the officers' arrival, they found one of the motorists to be intoxicated, and took him into custody, police said.

The suspect has been charged with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, according to police.

The charges were based on a prior DWI conviction the driver had in the Village of Spring Valley in 2008, which resulted in the revocation of his driving privileges, police said.

The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to police.
