ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A local man who crashed into a telephone pole in the Village of Airmont around 4 a.m. Sunday was not injured, but he was drunk, according to the Ramapo Police.

The impact of the crash split the pole in half, police said.

The unidentified man's passenger was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital after complaining of chest pains, police said.

The driver was charged with DWI and released.

Orange and Rockland Utilities responded to the scene to replace the telephone pole.
