Monsey Fire Chief Tony Layman said the fire started around 9:30 a.m. in the home office on the bottom floor of the single-family home at 45 Albert Drive.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from the small office, Layman said.
Within minutes the fire was extinguished and the fire was contained to the single room, he added.
One firefighter received a cut on his hand from broken glass, Layman said. No one else was injured.
