Eladio Torres, 24, was charged with petit larceny, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief on May 28. Torres allegedly took a 2006 28-foot Bayliner boat from the Minisceongo Yacht Club in Stony Point for a joy ride without the owner's consent, according to a press release.

The boat sustained around $3,000 worth of damage to its right hull as a result. However, it's unclear when or how this damage was caused. Torres did not know the owner of the boat and was not an employee of Minisceongo, Lt. Keith Williams said.

Torres and another suspect are believed to have broken into the boat's cabin where the keys were located in order to start the boat, Wiliams said.

Williams added a second arrest relating to this incident is likely.

Torres was processed and remanded to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, according to the release.
