Matthew Sindone, 23, was driving a black Lincoln MKT when he ran a red light on Route 304 at the intersection of Goebel Road, slamming into a Toyota Camry containing Neil Block, 69 and Aline Block, 68, killing both, said Officer Peter Walker with the Clarkstown Police Department.

Sindone, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to the Clarkstown Police Department were he was charged with the two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter, criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and a traffic device violation, Walker said.

The charges stem from the initial investigation and consultation with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. Sindone was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $750,000. He was transported to the Rockland County Jail and will return to court on June 9, Walker added.

As the investigation into this crash continues, the initial contributing factor of this accident was that Sindone allegedly passed a steady red light on Route 304 at the intersection of Goebel Road, Walker said.

The Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation, working with the Clarkstown Detective Bureau, Rockland County Medical Examiner and the Rockland County District Attorney.
