New City Man Faces DWI Charge In Ramapo

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Ramapo officer arrested a 34-year-old male from New City for DWI Monday evening.

The officer, assigned to Northeast Ramapo, observed a vehicle driving erratically on Route 45, swerving numerous times into the oncoming lane of traffic at about 5:30 p.m. 

After stopping the vehicle, the driver had difficulty putting the car in park and failed standardized field sobriety tests. He was arraigned by a Ramapo justice and must return to Ramapo Court in two weeks to answer the charge. 

On June 7, Ramapo Police handled 145 calls, including: 10 alarm activations, nine medical emergencies, one fire, and seven arrests including charges for DWI, Petit Larceny (shoplifting), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and several warrants. 

Ramapo Police investigated three MVA’s Monday at the following locations: New Hempstead Road in the Village of New Hempstead, Scotland Hill Road in the Village of Chestnut Ridge, and Main Street in Monsey. No injuries were reported.
