An off-duty Spring Valley police officer was charged with DWI under Leandra's Law and drug possession after state police received repeated calls of an erratic driver Sunday on Route 17.

Marc Miller, 46, of Nanuet, was arrested after the State Police in Monroe began receiving the calls from concerned drivers, said Trooper Steven Nevel, spokesman for the state police.

Troopers located Miller at a local gas station in the Town of Chester where he appeared to be disoriented and impaired, Nevel said.

A search of his vehicle turned up an amount of cocaine, Nevel said.

Miller was traveling with a child under the age of 15 in the back seat of the vehicle, he added.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance; DWI/Drugs and aggravated DWI with a child, state police said.

Miller was processed and released. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 27.

Spring Valley police did not return calls for information regarding Miller's status with the department following his arrest.
