An Orange County man was busted with driving on drugs while in possession of meth on Route 208 during a routine traffic stop by New York State Police troopers.

Troopers on patrol early on Wednesday morning stopped New Windsor resident Christopher Raymond, 45 on Route 208 near the intersection of Denniston Road in Gardiner after he committed a vehicle and traffic law violation.

During the traffic stop, Raymond was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and he was arrested at the scene. Police charged Raymond with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor and operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs.

Following arraignment, Raymond was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,0000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Gardiner Justice Court later this year to answer the charges.
