NEW CITY, N.Y. -- “The Perfect Storm,” a program that takes a grassroots approach to tackling prescription drug and heroin abuse, will be presented in New City this week.
Police, local leaders and the nonprofit group, Wellcore, are sponsoring the Tuesday, June 7 event so parents and others can learn more about the ongoing epidemic.
It will take place at the Paramount Country Club, which is at 60 Zukor Road.
Leading the discussion will be Thomas Zugibe, Rockland County district attorney; Susan Solar, a medical professional; Michael Sullivan, Clarkstown’s chief of police; “Steve,” a recovering addict; and “Carole,” the parent of a heroin addict.
Wellcore is asking that those who want to attend the free event RSVP by emailing perfectstorm@CCSD.edu, or by calling (845)-304-4371.
There will be a “break-out room” with tables of resource materials and spokespeople, organizers said.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 7 p.m.
Other event sponsors are the Clarkstown Police Department, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Clarkstown Parent-Teacher Association, and the Clarkstown Teachers Association.
