Ramapo Police Still Looking For Taxi Cab Robber

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Police are searching a suspected assailant who assaulted and robbed a taxi cab driver Monday around 9:08 p.m. after the suspect flagged him down on Route 45 near Rennslear Drive in Hillcrest.

The taxi driver told police he had been robbed.

According to the victim, he had picked up suspect in front of the Bravo Supermarket in Hillcrest Plaza. When the taxi reached Rennsalear Drive the suspect grabbed the driver from behind and demanded cash. Suspect also repeatedly punched the driver and sprayed a substance into the driver’s eyes. Suspect then fled on foot.

The victim was transported to Nyack Hospital. The names of the victim and the taxi company are being withheld.

The suspect is described as a tall, large-build, middle aged black male.
