ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. – A joint investigation and raid by multiple departments in Rockland County uncovered $50,000 worth of counterfeit merchandise from three locations this week.
More than 275 pieces of merchandise were seized due to the work of the Rockland Sheriff’s Office, Orangetown, Haverstraw and Ramapo Police Departments, Homeland Security and the Rockland County Intelligence Center and Global Security and Investigative Services.
“It is estimated that $1.6 billion worth of counterfeit merchandise enters this country every year. This will be an ongoing initiative to assist in keeping our communities safe,” Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco said in a statement.
Urena-Jimenez, 29, of Haverstraw, Chi Dam, 63, of Natley, N.J., and Yanira Benavides, 48, of New City were all charged with trademark counterfeiting.
The trio sold various knock-offs of brand-name handbags, wallets, jewelry, sunglasses and other merchandise.
