At approximately 4 a.m. on Friday, April 14, members of the Ramapo Police Department were dispatched to Fanley Avenue in Monsey, where there was a car reported stolen.
Police said that following a short search, the unoccupied car was located in Spring Valley, prompting the Ramapo Police Department and Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI to begin processing the vehicle for evidence.
While processing the vehicle, police said that they began investigating other crimes that had recently been reported in Monsey and nearby municipalities. A joint investigation between police in Ramapo and Spring Valley led to the arrest of a 19-year-old from Brooklyn, who has been charged with grand larceny.
According to police, besides stealing the car, the suspect and at least one associate are believed to be responsible for other larcenies from vehicles in both Ramapo and Spring Valley, leading to additional counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
