Loss prevention personnel at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Palisades Mall have accused 20-year-old Luis Hernandez and 18-year-old Raul Lopez, both of West Haverstraw, in the months-long scam, police said.

Police said Hernandez voided purchases made by Lopez, then a customer, who left the store with the stolen goods.

At some point later, the store, which was then unaware of the thefts, hired Lopez, police said.

The alleged thefts took place over a six-month period and amounted to $2,670 worth of stuff, police said.

Hernandez has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

Lopez has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

Both men were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and released on their own recognizance.
