NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Vandals smashed windows in four New City cars recently, prompting Clarkstown Police to remind residents not to leave any valuables in their cars.

The vandalism took place Saturday and Sunday in the north New City area; nothing was stolen from the cars, police said.

In response, patrol officers will be paying close attention to the area and the department's Detective Bureau is investigating the incidents.

Police are reminding residents that if they are parking their car outside, to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables from sight.

They are also asking residents to contact the police department if they see anyone suspicious in their neighborhood at 845-639-5800.
