ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Republican incumbent Ed Day easily won re-election to a second term as Rockland County Executive.
With 95 percent of the vote in, Day leads Democrat Maureen Porette and Conservative Thomas Sullivan, 55 percent to 43 percent to 2 percent, according to unofficial returns from the Rockland County Board of Elections.
Day had touted his role in reducing Rockland's budget, while Porette has criticized him for allowing Rockland's deficit to climb when Day served on the county Board of Legislators.
