“Over time, the YMCA has done exemplary work in promoting healthy lifestyles and social responsibility to Rockland residents,” said Rand. “Even after all of these years, this organization continues to offer unparalleled service to countless local citizens, and I thank the YMCA for this honor and all they do for the community.”

Rand’s community outreach includes serving as a member on the Board of Trustees for SUNY Rockland Community College and a vice chair on the Board of Directors for United Hospice of Rockland. He has also been an ardent supporter of the YMCA’s “Taste of Nyack” event.

The Rockland County YMCA is a volunteer-driven group that aims to improve the health, well-being and familial and personal relationships of their members; foster the potential of children and teenagers; and encourage the acts of giving back to the community and supporting neighbors.

Also recognized was Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard T. Phillips, Jr., who was given the Distinguished Service Award, and lifelong Nyack residents Jim and Eleanor Kane, who received the Service to Youth Award.

Proceeds from the “Night of MAGIC” benefit YMCA youth programs throughout Rockland County, including the Y’s Beginning Preschool in Suffern, New York; youth and government club; teen-mentoring program; after-school program and dance school.

“Because of Joe’s strong commitment to community service, I’m thrilled that he was selected for this award,” said Chuck Maze, CEO of the Rockland County YMCA. “He and his business have touched our region in numerous ways, and we are very grateful for the support they continue to provide.”
