CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Schools Superintendent Dr. J. Thomas Morton is expected to make his recommendation on how the district should weigh Regents scores at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Education.
In a note to the community prior to Thursday’s open-panel discussion on the Regents exams and their role in overall student GPAs, Morton said the Regents' issue was taken up last year at the county and regional level.
Since last fall, he said, he and Assistant Superintendent Jeff Sobel have been meeting with various “stakeholder groups" – including principals, students, parents, and staff members – to hear their views.
Representatives of those groups took part in the panel discussion Thursday, Morton said.
Morton said he planned to summarize those views when he makes his recommendation to the Board of Education on Thursday, March 10.
